Shuraku OS

In Japan, rural communities are confronting daunting challenges, including a high average age, few young people, depopulation, and falling tax revenue. Shuraku OS is a comprehensive solution for local governments—including consulting and programming that brings in Japanese and international interns, corporate trainees, and tourists—that helps Japan’s countryside build a path forward by sharing these villages’ unique wisdom, beauty, and resilience with the world.

Until recently, it was tempting to assume that life would never be less convenient. One virus changed all that. Shuraku Cloud is an interface for sharing ways of thinking and acting that amplify the resilience of any community. Shuraku is a Japanese word for settlement, and the beta version is being deployed to a village in northeast Japan.
